AM: This morning I got up at 5:30 and just chilled for a bit got some food then took off to practice. When I got there, I started by doing some squats. I did 4 sets of 3 and maintained a heavier weight than usual. My form was a little rough at firs, but it got better as I went. The. We went on our 15 minute loop. It felt easier then usual.
PM: Well, this was definitely one of the most difficult workouts that I'd ever done. I started the first 1200 and was already worn out by the time I got through with the second. I think I may have still been worn out from yesterday's run. My first 3 were slightly quicker then they should've been which was not smart of me. I need to learn to relax on longer reps. When I got to the lest rep we made it about half way through and I began hyperventilating and my legs seized up on me. Instead of pushing my strides longer I let them shorten which was also a mistake. I lost the pack on the last rep and barely caught up to a point where I was about 50 meters behind on the last rep. I was very frustrated with myself for having let myself die off on the last rep. That was totally on me, but as coach says it's better to learn from our failures then dwell on them. So even though this work out was not what I wanted, I can still take away some thing from it. First off, I need to do more stretching. I stretched and iced the night before, but it still wasn't enough. Secondly, I need to relax and clear my mind better during my reps so I don't panic when things start to go wrong. It's all about how you respond to the difficulties you face during the workout. I also relearned to stick to my pace throughout the whole workout to accord burning out. This afternoons run was a learning experience.
